The challenge

Insured cargo. No platform.

MGI Ship handles packages whose sensitive nature, diamonds, precious metals, luxury jewellery, demands a platform that treats every shipment as financially insured cargo, with risk-tier evaluation at every step. Before Aerosoft's engagement, the business operated without a unified platform capable of handling those requirements end to end.

/ 01, What was missing

No platform, no audit trail

  • No structured customer registration or verification
  • No real-time cost estimation by zone & declared value
  • No automated billing reconciliation against FedEx invoices
  • No insurance-tier logic at shipment creation
  • No audit trail required for compliance and chain of custody
/ 02, Why it mattered

Stakes that don't tolerate slack

  • A missed package carries real financial exposure
  • A wrong insurance classification creates uncovered loss
  • Manual billing creates margin leak on every shipment
  • No verification gate means high-risk cargo to unknown accounts
  • Carrier API failures must degrade gracefully, not crash
Security and tracking accuracy are not optional features for this business. They are mandatory operational requirements, a missed package or a wrong insurance classification carries real financial and reputational exposure.
The hard problems

Five integrations that had to be right.

Aerosoft had to integrate complex third-party services, FedEx APIs, USPS ZIP validation and secure payment gateways, while maintaining complete system stability and security compliance.

Insurance logic

Risk-tier evaluation by value, type & destination, premium applied in real time.

FedEx API

Real-time carrier validation, zone calculation & rate retrieval with graceful failures.

CSV billing

FedEx invoice CSVs ingested, parsed & mapped to client accounts with full breakdowns.

6-digit accounts

Unique account numbers & manual admin verification before any access is granted.

Weight floor

2.2-pound minimum enforced consistently across cost estimation and billing.

Delivery in four milestones

Each milestone a validated, deployable increment.

The four-month project ran across four tightly scoped milestones, each completed, tested and deployed, giving the client visibility and accountability at every stage.

Milestone 01

Authentication, dashboard & account system

User registration with unique six-digit account numbers, admin verification before activation, role-based access controls, and a core dashboard delivering real-time shipment visibility from day one.

Milestone 02

Address management, shipment workflow & FedEx integration

Full address-book management with USPS ZIP validation, end-to-end shipment workflow from creation to dispatch, deep FedEx API integration, and residential-address detection with surcharge logic.

Milestone 03

Cost estimator, billing & insurance logic

Real-time cost estimator using zone, weight and declared value; full billing system generating client invoices from contract rates; risk-tier insurance engine across diamonds, jewellery, metals and commercial cargo.

Milestone 04

Reporting, CSV engine, admin tools & deployment

Dedicated CSV processing engine reconciling FedEx invoice data, automated invoice generation, comprehensive admin tooling, and production deployment, with two months of post-launch tuning included.

The Aerosoft commitment

100% IP transfer. No vendor lock-in.

Aerosoft transfers full intellectual property to clients on completion, uncommon in software development, where many agencies keep the upper hand through licensing or proprietary dependencies. Aerosoft's model ensures the client genuinely owns what was built.

100%
Source code

All application code, every line, transferred on payment completion.

100%
Schemas & data

Database schemas, migrations, seed data and ERD documentation.

100%
Integrations & docs

API integration code, configuration, runbooks and architecture docs.
